St. Ann’s Altar Society
Est. July, 1933
Welcome
You are invited to join St. Ann’s Altar Society. If you would like to be more involved in the life of your church, please join us. You will come to know and enjoy the lively fellowship of Catholic women who play and work together assisting in different ways to enrich our St. Ann’s Church Community.
Spiritual Blessings
Each month a Mass is offered for all the members of St. Ann’s Altar Society whether living or deceased.
All St. Ann’s ladies are encouraged to attend a Holy Hour at 7:30 p.m. on the Thursday evening preceding the first Friday of each month to pray for religious vocations.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Holy Rosary is prayed after the Mass or Communion Service and is offered for world peace.
A Day of Prayer is conducted annually which is sponsored by St. Ann’s Altar Society. All ladies of the Parish and their guests are invited and encouraged to participate in the opportunity for spiritual enrichment.
A Living Rosary of the entire 20 decades (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries) is prayed daily for the intentions of our families and for the youth, for world peace and for all vocations. Four Rosary groups of 20 ladies, totaling 80 in all, pray one decade for one of the mysteries of their group, thus adding significantly to the spiritual base of St. Ann’s Altar Society.
History
The first Catholic Church in Midland was a Mission of the Church at Stanton, Texas. Mrs. Sarah Dorsey served as President of an organization at that time which took care of the material needs of the Church.
In July, 1933, when the Church in Midland was established as a Parish, Altar Society was officially established with Mrs, George Tom as President.
Memorial Fund
In September, 1972, the St. Ann’s Altar Society voted to establish a Memorial Fund. Contributions to this fund are being received not only from members of the Altar Society, in memory of dear ones, but also from parishioners as well as others outside the parish.
The Pastor, the President of the Altar Society and the Chairman of the Memorial Fund will determine when and what in the church will be financed through this fund. Contributions to this account may be made to St, Ann’s Altar Society Memorial Fund. See back of booklet for donation forms
